Titanopsis calcareum, Mimicry Plant, concrete stone plant

Titanopsis calcareum or Mimicry Plant has evolved its color and texture to blend in with the rough, grey surface of rocky terrain. This gives it a uniquely textured appearance as a houseplant. It can be a featured succulent or a part of a dish garden display. It will grow to a diameter of about 3" remaining relatively flat to the ground. Over time it will develop offsets or new shoots to form mat-like clumps that expand its territory. These offsets can be carefully separated to form new plants. The process, however, is a slow one.

As the nights grow longer in late autumn, Titanopsis calcareum will bloom with bright yellow flowers. Because this plant is used to a harsh environment, it closes its flowers during the heat of the day, then opens them to attract evening pollinators with a sweet fragrance.

Because of its natural environment, the Mimicry Plant needs little water and is hard to kill unless you forget that it needs little water. Over-watering is the biggest mistake people make with this plant. It's soil should be completely dry between watering and should have excellent drainage so that water does not stay in the soil for more than half a day, at most. Each order will include a complete care instruction sheet for your Titanopsis calcareum.

It can thrive in bright sunlight and can withstand cold temperature down to about freezing although a frost may result in some damage.

You will receive a small mimicry plant well-established in a 2.625" nursery pot. The size and condition of your Titanopsis calcareum will be similar to those shown in the pictures. Your mimicry plant will be well packed for shipment by USPS First Class or Priority Mail. While we cannot accept returns of live plants, please contact us immediately if there is any problem with your shipment. At Sylvan Gardens, our mission is to help you grow good things, and we take that mission seriously.

Shipping Times, Methods, and Costs?

Most plants are shipped by USPS Priority Mail or USPS . In cold months we only ship by Priority Mail to minimize shipping times and we strongly recommend that you add a heat pack to your order to protect your plants from cold damage. The heat packs are priced low to cover our cost and can mean the difference between receiving a happy, healthy plant or a plant that is damaged or killed by cold exposure. Our mission is to help you grow good things, and that starts with taking every precaution in shipping to make sure your plant arrives in good condition. If there is any issue with your order when you receive it, please let us know.
