The basic Snake Plant's pattern of dark green and lighter gray-green looks a bit like a snake's skin. Sansevieria trifasciata's (or Dracaena trifasciata) sharp and pointed leaves gives it its other common name: Mother-in-law's Tongue. This is truly one of the hardest houseplants to kill through neglect. It can sit in a dark corner of your room, and as long as it gets water a dozen or so times a year, it'll hang on. If you want it to grow and thrive, though, then give it bright light, water when it's dry, and add liquid houseplant fertilizer mixed into the water during the spring and summer months.

The snake plane was long thought to fall into genus Sansevieria, but recent scientific advances in plant identification have determined that it belongs to the genus Dracaena, so you may see the snake plane referred to by either name.

The Snake Plant can grow more than three feet tall. Because it grows so big and requires little care, it is a common sight in business lobbies. It adds a bit of life and greenery, without requiring much care. The snake plant is so durable and resilient that it s often mistaken for an artificial plant, almost never showing signs of distress from neglect- except in the most extreme cases.

You will receive one snake plant potted in a four inch container. The height of the plant and number of shoots may vary, generally the shorter ones will have more shoots to balance out the size differential. The snake plant will add new shoots to the pot from time to time and sends new leaves up from the middle of each columnar plant.

The snake plant is characterize by long, flat, sword-shaped leaves that are stiff and stand upright. The leaves taper to a point near the top.

The snake plant can tolerate a wide range of indoor temperatures from 60-85 degrees continually, and a fair bit more to either side for short durations.

Your Sansevieria trifasciata will be well-packed for shipment by USPS Priority Mail. Please bring it inside and unpack it as soon as it is delivered to minimize shipping stress.
