This is a combination of two magnificent hanging plant cuttings, unrooted. One is the traditional spider plant cutting, ready to start rooting. The other is an amazing hanging plant called the Basket Plant (Callisia fragrans). The unique, bold appearance of this hanging plant cutting ensemble inspired us to call this the Spiders from Mars Hanging Plant Combo Pack as an homage to the unique style of the late David Bowie.
We've all seen the spider plant with it's multitude of runners and baby spiders hanging down from above, but the Basket Plant is a still relatively unknown, bigger, bolder tropical version of the spider plant (completely unrelated taxonomically speaking). Each of its runners are thick and segmented, almost like giant insect legs. The babies look like bromeliads, forming upturned leafy cups (or baskets). Like the spider plant babies, each of the Basket Plant babies begins forming air roots and is well prepared to set roots and become a new plant as soon as it finds soil. The Basket Plant is native to the rainforest understory, typically growing in the nooks of tree bark or the forks of branches.
You can root and pot these separately, or plant them together for a truly amazing hanging plant display!
Both of these plants are prolific rooters and fast growers. They'll need to be periodically transplanted to larger pots until they get to the size you want. Once they grow into the available root space, they'll start sending most of their energy into runners with baby Basket Plants and baby Spider Plants.
These are unrooted cuttings ready to be planted and to set down roots when you receive them. The baby spider and basket in the photos are of the approximate size and condition that you will receive, but may vary as every plant is bit different. Yours will be freshly cut before shipping and will include a complete rooting and care instruction sheet for each plant.
Your order will be well-packed and shipped by USPS First Class or Priority Mail (your choice) within 1-2 business days of receiving your order. Please take your package inside and open it as soon as possible after it is delivered. A very hot or very cold mailbox is not a good place for plants to sit for hours and hours.
We can't accept returns on live plants, but at Sylvan Gardens our mission is to help you grow good things, so if there is any problem with your order, please let us know immediately.

Most plants are shipped by USPS Priority Mail or USPS . In cold months we only ship by Priority Mail to minimize shipping times and we strongly recommend that you add a heat pack to your order to protect your plants from cold damage. The heat packs are priced low to cover our cost and can mean the difference between receiving a happy, healthy plant or a plant that is damaged or killed by cold exposure. Our mission is to help you grow good things, and that starts with taking every precaution in shipping to make sure your plant arrives in good condition. If there is any issue with your order when you receive it, please let us know.
