Golden Pothos Cuttings (2), Epipremnum Aureum, Two unrooted cuttings with two rooting nodes on each

$3.99

This item includes two Golden Pothos (Epipremnum Aureum) cuttings, each containing at least two rooting nodes and at least two leaves. They can be rooted in water or in light potting mix. Complete rooting and care instructions will be included with every order. The photos show plants that have already been rooted and have made additional new growth. Your cuttings will each include two leaves (or more) and two rooting nodes with the beginnings of root buds. No pot, soil, or full root system as yet.

The plants we are offering are not to be confused with the philodendron. This is a Pothos (Genus: Epipremnum) as determined by botanical traits very specific to the species such as leaf shape, absence of cataphylls, and the appearance of the leaf petiole.

The Golden Pothos gets its name, of course, from from the random yellow/ gold streaks throughout the surface of the leaf. The prevalence and contrast of these streaks vary from leaf to leaf and are generally less-pronounced when the plant is receiving lower light levels.

Another name for the Golden Pothos is Devil's Ivy. This is said to have derived from the fact that the Pothos can grow in the understory of dense forests in areas of relatively poor light, and like most pothos plants, it retains water well in its thick leaves making it tolerant of drought and poor watering habits. In other words, it can hide in shadows, and it's hard to kill. Although the Epipremnum aureum tolerates low light, it will do better and grow faster in bright, indirect light. It will also be more colorful in brighter light, although it should always be protected from direct sunlight.

The Golden Pothos is an excellent hanging plant. In the wild, it grows as a vine climbing tree trunks or other handy surfaces. It can grow many meters long under optimum conditions, however, as it grows, it forms rooting nodes which can be clipped with a couple of leaves and replanted to form a new Neon Pothos plant. Often Pothos owners will replant a few of these cuttings along with the parent plant in a larger hanging pot to make a truly dazzling display of thick, trailing, gold-streaked green foliage. Alternately, pothos plants can be trained to climb a wooden or moss-covered climbing board for an upright presentation.

Remember, for this price, you are getting two unrooted Golden Pothos cuttings that can be rooted and potted together or separately.

Although it's possible, the Golden Pothos rarely flowers as a houseplant and is generally prized for its beautiful foliage.

Your cuttings will have the rooting nodes wrapped in wetted paper and covered with a plastic film to keep them hydrated and healthy during shipment. Please use care in cutting away the plastic and unwrapping the plants.

If your area, New Hampshire, or areas in between are experiencing temperatures below fifty degrees, please order a heat pack with your shipment to keep the Pothos plant cuttings alive and healthy during shipping. The heat packs are cheap, just priced to cover our costs.
