Blue Elf Aloe (sometimes written as Aloe 'Blue Elf') is a hybrid. It grows in tight clumps and produces offfsets that can be used for propagation. Reaching a height of up to 18 inches, it can grow as wide as two feet if the offsets are kept on the mother plant. The leaves have a nice blue-green color (that may redden with very high levels of light) and closely spaced 'teeth' along the leaf edges. In late winter to early spring, Blue Elf Aloe grows tall spikes with many orange-red tubular flowers that are attractive to hummingbirds. The leaves themselves tend to be narrower and have a somewhat wispy appearance that wouldn't be out of place on a sunlit rocky ledge in Rivendell.
Blue Elf Aloe is a drought tolerant succulent that won't mind if you forget to water it occasionally. It can withstand temperatures down to 25 degrees, but should be protected from frost. It prefers bright light, but doesn't need direct sunlight to thrive. If you do plan to put it outdoors in the sun, acclimate it gradually over the course of about two weeks. This aloe prefers gritty or sandy soil that drains quickly after watering. You can use a gritty cactus mix or add perlite generously to regular potting soil. Each order will include a complete care instruction sheet. At Sylvan Gardens, our mission is to help you grow good things.
Your Blue Elf Aloe will be fully rooted and well-established in a 2-5/8" nursery pot. It will be well packed for shipment by either USPS First Class or Priority Mail.

Most plants are shipped by USPS Priority Mail or USPS . In cold months we only ship by Priority Mail to minimize shipping times and we strongly recommend that you add a heat pack to your order to protect your plants from cold damage. The heat packs are priced low to cover our cost and can mean the difference between receiving a happy, healthy plant or a plant that is damaged or killed by cold exposure.
